A WHIPLASH HISTORY LESSON
I n the beginning, there were three Tonys. . .
Tony Portaro (vocals, guitar) joined forces with Tony Scaglione (drums) and recruited Tony Bono (bass) to form the New Jersey thrash band Whiplash in 1984.
Whiplash was signed
by Roadrunner Records
in 1984 to record
their debut album
"Power and Pain."
They played their first show in Berkeley, California in 1985 at Ruthie's Inn. Witnessed by bands such as Metallica and Exodus, they performed their break-through album, alongside Possessed and Death Angel, and soon after embarked on an extensive European tour with Sodom.
Considered thrash innovators of that era, Whiplash
added their East Coast
influence to the
San Francisco-born
thrash style.
"Power and Pain" (1985) became a thrash classic, and rates as one of the
best thrash albums
of all time.
With the departure of Scaglione in 1987 to do a stint with Slayer, line-up changes continually followed for Whiplash, allowing Portaro to keep it fresh for the fans.
The second album, "Ticket To Mayhem" in 1987, was another thrash masterpiece for Whiplash.
The addition of a vocalist on Whiplash's third release "Insult to Injury" (1989),
let Portaro focus on his
guitar work.
In 1996, Whiplash became
a 5-piece, adding a second guitarist. Portaro swapped dynamic leads and served up creative guitar harmonies on "Cult Of One," under the Massacre Records label.
"Sit, Stand, Kneel, Prey"
was released in 1997.
As a 4-piece lineup, Portaro continued to enjoy focusing on his guitar work.

Following the release of "Sit, Stand, Kneel, Prey," the original power trio lineup of the three Tonys Portaro, Scaglione and Bono reunited for 1998's "Thrashback."

Tony Portaro followed a 10-year hiatus of writing, producing and engineering with the reformation of power trio Whiplash.
The release of "Unborn Again" in 2009 reignited fan
interest around
the globe.

Portaro's new thrashing line-up includes Dank DeLong, from New York, on bass and backup vocals. Dank's undeniable stage presence is powerful, adding to WHIPLASH's pure adrenaline intensity.

Dan Foord completes the power trio, taking the reigning seat on drums. A teacher at London's Academy of Contemporary Music, Foord has a progressive, mathematical style, and is recognized as one of the UK's finest technical drummers.

1. SHIPPING INFORMATION AND OPTIONS within the US.
Whiplash Merch orders ship from New Jersey. Our current order processing time is approximately 3-5 business days before the product
is shipped.
During this time, your online order is processed for shipment as quickly as possible. Business days are defined as Monday through Friday and exclude US Holidays.
All Whiplash Merchandise stated prices already include shipping.
2. SHIPPING INFORMATION AND OPTIONS outside the US.
Our international customers are very important to us. We are proud to be serving customers worldwide to areas that our shipping providers service. Please keep in mind that the items in the shipment must not be prohibited by embargo or national/international restrictions.
All Whiplash Merchandise prices already include shipping.
International orders cannot be shipped with tracking information. All orders will be delivered by the destination country's postal service. Please allow 3-5 business days for order processing before shipping.
International Air Mail delivery processing times average 4-10 business days once shipped, but will depend on the destination country and can be delayed in customs. Depending on the destination country, orders could take up to 3-5 weeks!
Please be aware that we are not responsible for products confiscated by the legal authorities of your country or state; we advise you to check your local customs office regarding import laws in advance, before ordering, if you suspect that your country bans any products. Whiplash is not responsible for damaged or undeliverable mail.
The customer is responsible for all shipping charges for any international orders that are refused upon delivery.
Please note that certain items may be restricted to delivery outside the Continental US only due to international carrier restrictions. We apologize for this inconvenience, and are hoping to offer expanded services in the near future.
International Shipping Duties and Taxes
Orders shipping to destinations outside the United States might incur import fees and duties & taxes that are not reflected in our prices. If duties and taxes are imposed on your order, they are due at time of delivery. Please consult your local customs office for more details about your country's duties and taxes.
Per the terms of our return policy, please note that shipping arrangements and costs incurred to return items are the customers responsibility.
3. Return/Refund/Exchange Policy
We sincerely hope that you enjoy your Whiplash Merch purchase; however, if you would like to return your merchandise, we will gladly help you with the process. Please review the guidelines below prior to your return to ensure that your merchandise is eligible for a return/refund.
Return Guidelines
* Merchandise must be returned within 30 days of the date that it was received
* Merchandise returned must be in new/unused condition
* We are unable to accept returns on washed, worn, and/or abused items
* Shipping costs incurred for returns are non refundable and are within the Customers responsibility
* Orders placed with PayPal will have separate credits from orders using credit cards
Mailing Returns to Whiplash Merch
Contact Whiplash Merch via email for a return label and return form. Affix the return label to the outside of the packaging. Include the return form with your merchandise and mail to Whiplash Merch. You may utilize your preferred shipping method; however we recommend returning merchandise via a traceable carrier.
Refunds
Refunds will be credited to your PayPal account within 10 business days or less from the date the return is received by Whiplash Merch. The credit may not appear directly on your PayPal account, but may be reflected on the account used to process your PayPal purchase. Please note that your issuing bank may have its own credit refund policy, which could delay the release of your credit and the availability of your credited funds.
Exchange Policy
If you need to exchange your purchase for another product, you may return the original item in accordance with the return guidelines. Contact Whiplash Merch via email for a return label and exchange form. Include the exchange form with your merchandise and mail to Whiplash Merch. You may utilize your preferred shipping method; however we recommend returning merchandise via a traceable carrier.
Damaged Goods
Defective and/or damaged merchandise due to shipping must be reported to Whiplash Merch within 30 days of purchase, and pre authorized for return to be considered eligible for a refund. Please contact Whiplash Merch to obtain authorization and a pre-paid shipping label to cover return expenses. A refund of the original product cost, taxes, and pro-rated shipping charges will be processed within 10 business days from the date that the damaged/defective goods are received at Whiplash Merch.
Return Policy for Items Purchased at a Concert/Event
At this time we are unable to offer returns or exchanges for concert/event merchandise purchased at an event. Concert/event merchandise purchases are final; however, we care about your satisfaction. You may contact Whiplash Merch via email with details regarding your concert/event purchase for possible alternatives if your product is defective.
